Condor Awake Lyrics

Verse 1
In the highlands of condor territory
was home to indigenous liberty
from the power of western tyranny,
living hope for the victims of the empire

From the land of the eagle we looked on
as the condor swept down to strike its prey:
exploitation, extraction, racism,
and oppression against the people of the land;

and Pachamama blessed the mountains,
and the villages thrived.
The rights and dignity
of nature and people held strong hand in hand

Chorus:
Come, O Condor, Awake! and rescue your people!
Drive the evil away! and rescue your people!

Verse 2
From the hands of a ghost from far away
came the poison of western tyranny
with the face of a soulless woman
armed with the book of invasion on colored lands

and said no more are the rights
of the people and land
And heed now my power
Pachamama will be no more!

Chorus:
Come, O Condor, Awake! and rescue your people!
Drive the evil away! and rescue your people!

Bridge 1:
How can you say this is better
when you abuse the earth?
How can you claim to be for the people
when you bring destruction to our streets?

Spoken:
Solidaridad, desde el pueblo del águila al pueblo del condor. No estamos derrotados, la lucha sigue.
El capitalismo y el imperialismo son el peor enemigo de la humanidad.

(Solidarity, from the land of the eagle to the land of the condor. We are not defeated. We will fight on. Capitalism and imperialism are humanity's worst enemy)

Bridge 2:
The fight is not over
the condor will rise
The people will win
and your power will be no more!

Chorus (x2):
Come, O Condor, Awake! and rescue your people!
Drive the evil away! and rescue your people!
Come, O Condor, Awake! and rescue your people!
Drive the evil away! and rescue your people!

Y que viva Pachamama!! VIVA!!
Viva Pachamama!! VIVA!!
